I was chosen to participate in the Riverside County Public Defenders Program. The program serves two purposes. First, It provides outside private attorney’s with the opportunity to try or take to trial at least three misdemeanor cases. This means trial experience, which of course every attorney wants, but doesnt always get. Second, and probably most important it helps the Riverside criminal courts to reduce their on-going backlog, which has become a “hot” topic issue in the the Inland Empire. The backlog has affected not only the criminal process but it has also affected the civil side as well.
We are in our last week of training and I will report back on my take on the training as a whole and the cases that I recieve. Stay Tuned.
